It may be winter but expect Gotham to heat up your Monday night when it returns in January 2017. And the wait is almost over.
Gotham left fans on edge when it went on winter break, but fear not—Gotham will return on January 16th, 2017, with all new episodes.
The last we saw Jim Gordon, he was in quite the pickle. He’d pledged to protect Carmine Falcone’s son from harm now that he knows his blood has been tainted with Alice Tetch’s blood. However, as Mario and Lee enjoy their honeymoon, all is not well. Lee remains blissfully unaware that Mario saw her leaving Gordon’s apartment the night before the wedding and he thinks she wanted him more than she wants Mario. He can’t control the blood inside him, which is telling him that she chose Gordon and not him. Gordon arrives just before Mario kills Lee, but she didn’t see what was happening behind him. Not only that, but Mario’s murder weapon fell into the lake, so Gordon will have to convince a lot of people that he is innocent.
Edward Nygma has taken Barbara’s help to heart. He now knows that Penguin is responsible for Isabella’s death, and he vows to bring him down. Penguin, however, thinks that he still has a chance with Nygma. Now that Penguin is the mayor of Gotham City, he stands to lose a lot if he loses Nygma’s help.
Bruce is edging closer to finding out the truth about the secret Court of Owls organization that has been running Wayne Enterprises (as well as Gotham City) for years. He and Selina manage to break into their safe, but they trip the alarms and face getting caught until a mysterious stranger shows up. It’s Selina’s mother. How will her appearance impact the future of the couple/noncouple?
