Liverpool host Stoke City at Anfield on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Liverpool will look to keep up the pace with Chelsea at the top of the Premier League as they sit nine points back of Chelsea with one game in hand, entering a busy December stretch of games.
Philippe Coutinho is getting back to full fitness after the injury sustained in November, although it may be too early to count him in against Stoke. Liverpool will be glad to count on his services against Manchester City on Saturday, December 31 so they will probably not take any chances rushing the Brazilian talisman’s return ahead of schedule.
On the other side, Stoke manager Mark Hughes announced that Ibrahim Afellay may feature in this game after an eight month absence. Hughes will be without Marko Arnautovic, as the Austrian striker serves a three game ban. Stephen Ireland will also be out for the Potters, recovering from a broken leg suffered in May.
In his typical quirky language, Jurgen Klopp referred to this game as being as important as the “middle of three children” between the Everton game (presumably the firstborn child) and the upcoming Manchester City game on Saturday. The recent record gives the edge to the Reds, as they have won five of the last six encounters against Stoke City.
