Here’s how you can watch Wednesday evening’s Russell Athletic Bowl between West Virginia and Miami online.
Miami was once considered a national title contender and I’ll admit that I was a believer after they went on the road and demolished Appalachian State. However, the Hurricanes dropped off considerably after a loss to Florida State in the sixth week of the year.
The Hurricanes went from 4-0 to 4-4 in the blink of an eye and it was as disappointing as any meltdown in college football. However, the Hurricanes finished Mark Richt’s first season on a high note, winning their final four games.
Brad Kaaya might be one of the top quarterbacks in the country and he had a decent season for the Hurricanes. He passed for 3,250 yards and 23 touchdowns with seven picks and could be a second or third-round draft pick this year.
West Virginia had a solid season, going 10-2 and contending for the Big 12 title although the Mountaineers fell just short of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, respectively. Still, they have been one of the most consistent teams from that conference this season.
Senior quarterback Skyler Howard has had a breakout final year in Morgantown. He has passed for nearly 3,200 yards and 26 touchdowns and he looks like the leader this team needed. He’s one of the main reasons the Mountaineers were surprisingly good in 2016.
Shelton Gibson and Daikiel Shorts are the two receivers who have excelled the most under his passing attack. However, a name to keep an eye on would have to be Justin Crawford who is averaging 7.4 yards per carry and has over 1,100 on the year.
