The New York Jets will host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in Week 17. Here is a game preview, the betting odds, and a final score prediction.
The NFL is heading into its final week on Sunday, Jan. 1. All 16 Week 17 games will be between divisional foes. One of those games will be between bitter AFC East rivals in the Buffalo Bills (7-8) and the New York Jets (4-11). Kickoff from MetLife Stadium will be at 1:00 p.m. ET. CBS will have the telecast.
Buffalo fired its head coach Rex Ryan after being eliminated from the AFC Playoffs in Week 16 by the arch rival Miami Dolphins. This was the 17th straight season Buffalo failed to reach the NFL Playoffs, by far the longest active playoff drought in the league. Anthony Lynn will be the interim coach for the Bills on Sunday.
New York is coming off an absolute spanking at the hands of the New England Patriots in Week 16. The Jets have been one of the worst teams in football for most of 2016. This team is in need of several things. Not sure exactly what, but a competent quarterback could not hurt.

Here are the trends to know with the Bills: 1.) Buffalo is 1-4 against the spread in its last five games. 2.) The Bills are 3-6 straight up in their last nine games. 3.) The point total has gone over in all five of Buffalo’s last five games. 4.) In their last 11 road games, the Bills are 3-6-2 against the spread and 3-8 straight up.
Here are the trends to know with the Jets: 1.) New York is 2-5 against the spread and 1-6 straight up in its last seven games. 2.) The point total has gone under in four of the Jets’ last six games. 3.) In their last seven home games, the Jets are 2-4-1 against the spread and 1-6 straight up.
Probably go with the under in this game. While Buffalo has gone over in five straight games, choosing to bench Tyrod Taylor in favor of E.J. Manuel at quarterback doesn’t seem to give on confidence in picking the over.

That being said, Buffalo has more to gain from this game than do the Jets. Buffalo lost horrifically in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football at home to the Jets. Lynn has the opportunity to elevate his candidacy as a head coach with a solid game plan on Sunday. Look for the Bills to handle the Jets to get back to .500 to close out the 2016 NFL regular season.
