14. Jourdan Lewis disregards the laws of physics

In arguably the greatest individual effort on any play of the regular season, Lewis showed off some insane athletic ability on a leaping interception to seal a key Michigan victory over Wisconsin.

The fourth-ranked Wolverines and No. 8 Badgers were locked in a defensive struggle all afternoon long on October 1, with the score tied at seven after three quarters. With 7:56 remaining, Wilton Speight connected on a 45-yard pass to Amara Darboh to give Michigan a 14-7 advantage.

Neither team could generate anything on their next two drives, setting up a pressure-packed finish. With 2:15 to go, Wisconsin faced a fourth down from its own eight-yard line.

Badgers quarterback Alex Hornibrook fired a pass deep downfield towards wide receiver George Rushing. Lewis hung in the air for what felt like forever before coming down with a one-handed interception in one of the most acrobatic plays in recent memory.

The interception sealed one of the best wins of Michigan’s season, which kept it in playoff position up until the final game of the year. Had Lewis mistimed his jump by a fraction of a second, Rushing could have been behind the defense for the game-tying touchdown.

While he was overshadowed by Heisman finalist teammate Jabrill Peppers, Lewis deserves credit as one of the top cornerbacks in the nation. The athleticism that Lewis displayed on the interception against Wisconsin will make him a high selection in next season’s NFL draft.
