9. Army snaps the losing streak against Navy

A few notable rivalry winning streaks came to an end in 2016, including Oregon’s over Washington and Florida’s against Tennessee. However, none was more intense than the finish of the Army-Navy matchup in one of the most emotional college football games of the season.

Army entered the annual matchup against Navy, which takes place after the conclusion of the regular season, having lost 14 straight to the Midshipmen. While Navy had a terrific season that included a trip to the AAC Championship Game, the Black Knights had their best year since 2010 and figured to at least keep it close.

The Black Knights got some confidence with a strong start and were up 14-0 at halftime on two touchdown runs by Andy Davidson. Navy would bounce back following the break and cut the deficit to 14-10 entering the fourth quarter.

With 12:42 to go, Zach Abey ripped off a 41-yard run to give Navy its first lead at 17-14. Army responded with a methodical 12 play drive that took nearly seven minutes off the clock, capped off by Ahmad Bradshaw’s nine-yard run.

Navy was then held to a three-and-out on its next drive, and the Black Knights picked up a pair of first downs to seal the 21-17 upset. Every college football fan had to feel chills after Army stormed the field and both teams sang their Alma Maters in one of the coolest moments of the year.
