Michigan Wolverines tight end Jake Butt would land hard on his side and have to leave the Orange Bowl.

The Michigan Wolverines took a lot of big hits against the Florida State Seminoles on Friday night. However, one of them came at a cost early. As the Wolverines were driving into Florida State red zone, Jake Butt went down.

As Butt caught a pass, he took two hits from Matthew Thomas and Trey Marshall on the play. He got hit in the leg right near the area of his knee and he landed hard on his side. He immediately took his helmet off in pain and trainers tended to him immediately.

While it’s not clear what the severity of the injury is, he was able to walk off on his own power to the back after the play. As the crowd showed him support on the way out, he gave a thumbs up to the crowd.

For Michigan, Butt has been the heart and soul of their offense. The injury came at a bad time when it looked like they were finally going to get a touchdown on the board. Unfortunately, his injury took one of their best targets off the field.

The angle at which his leg bent did not look good at all. Hopefully, it’s nothing major and he’ll be okay as he has the NFL Draft just around the corner. Taking one hit can be tough but two can be even worse.
