After the coin toss for the 2016 Peach Bowl, the Alabama players weren’t really in the mood to shake hands with Washington

When it comes to college football (and sports in general), the NCAA loves to paint a picture of camaraderie between teams and athletes. However, anyone who has ever watched a game knows that’s not always the case. After all, these are top-tier competitors and sometimes that takes precedent to sportsmanship. Case in point happened following the coin toss at the 2016 Peach Bowl in regards to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Tide’s captains for the College Football Playoff semifinal consisted of their star defensive duo and big offensive tackle. Jonathan Allen, Reuben Foster, and Cam Robinson all took the field for the toss. While they were cordial to start, though, that didn’t last long at all.

After Alabama won the toss and elected to defer, the Washington players moved in towards the 50-yard line looking for a relatively customary handshake with their opponents. Nick Saban’s group wasn’t feeling that, though. Instead, they snubbed the Huskies and took off towards the sidelines. surprised that this occurred:

As the only undefeated Power 5 team in college football, Alabama has every right to be a bit cocky and have a chip on their shoulder. However, that might not be a good idea, though, with these stakes against this talented of a team.

Washington proved that to be true as they used their second drive to take an early lead over the unbeaten Crimson Tide. Not shaking hands is a power move and all, but you might not want to poke the bear that is bowl-game Chris Petersen and his players.
