Burnley host Sunderland at Turf Moor on Saturday, December 31st. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Burnley welcome Sunderland to Turf Moor on the final day of 2016. The Clarets have shown real maturity so far in their Premier League campaign. In previous seasons when they have been promoted they have been far too close to the relegation zone. This season though they have used their past experiences to better their game and it has paid off. Sean Dyche’s side are six points clear of 18th and eight points clear of 20th which shows the improvement made from previous seasons in which they struggled. A win could actually move Burnley into the top half of the table and that is quite a probable result considering their home form is the fifth best in the Premier League.
Sunderland will prove a tough team to beat though. They lost convincingly at fellow strugglers Swansea a couple of weeks ago and they have only taken four points from nine away matches this season. This game has the potential to be one of two things. Either one of the two teams will win it 1-0 or we could have a blowout on our hands. Neither side are great defensively and an early goal could open the floodgates. Looking at the Premier League table you would think that Burnley were the Premier League side and not Sunderland, who are once again in the midst of a relegation battle. Relegation could even benefit Sunderland in the long run as they are too big a club not to come back up in a year or two. Some fans might also take that over losing most weeks and constantly staving off relegation season after season.
