Alabama Crimson Tide defensive end Jonathan Allen rips the Washington Huskies for being soft after thumping them in the 2016 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide handled the No. 4 Washington Huskies in the 2016 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in the College Football Playoff, 24-7. Washington scored first and then Alabama had 24 unanswered points to stomp the Huskies in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta to advance to the National Championship.

It was a close game really until Washington quarterback Jake Browning threw that terrible pick-six to Alabama linebacker Tim Williams. When asked about his opponent, Alabama star defensive lineman Jonathan Allen held nothing back.

According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, Allen describes Washington as “soft” and that “[Alabama] could have played better.”

Calling someone ‘soft’ should not be immediately followed with ‘no disrespect’. If Allen wanted to be brutally honest and call Washington soft, he should have apologized to absolutely no one in his comments.

To say that Alabama could have played better, not really sure how that could have happened on the defensive side of the ball. Browning spent most of the game on his back. Wide receiver John Ross was neutralized and wideout Dante Pettis was quiet outside of his touchdown reception. Running back Myles Gaskin didn’t do much in the Washington backfield.

If Alabama needed to improve, it was in the passing game. True freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts played his worst game as a collegiate. It was only the bruising running style of tailback Bo Scarbrough that carried the Alabama offense.

To call Washington’s defense soft is just foolish. What game was Allen watching? Hurts wouldn’t have called the Washington front-seven soft, so why should Allen? Two things are certain: 1.) The winner of the Playstation Fiesta Bowl between Clemson and Ohio State won’t be soft. 2.) Nobody is soft in the NFL, Allen’s next stop of his football career.
