Chris Godwin is putting on quite the show in the first half of the Rose Bowl as Penn State tries to keep up with USC
The 2016 Rose Bowl got off to a pretty sloppy start, but since has become one of the more fun offensive bowl games to watch this postseason. Playmakers on both teams are starting to step up, and maybe no one has stepped up more for Penn State than wide receiver Chris Godwin.
Earlier in the first half, Godwin hauled in a crazy touchdown pass from Trace McSorley that was one of the best catches that we have seen in the 2016 season. After it was reviewed it would stand, but hell, it should have stood on effort alone.
Well, he was not done there. No, in the second quarter of this one as Penn State was trying to answer a USC touchdown drive, Godwin made this insane one-handed catch to keep the Nittany Lions drive going.
Everyone knew coming into this game that USC might have the better offense and that Penn State may have to play keep up. That is the case so far, but the Nittany Lions are doing pretty well in keeping up with the Trojans in the Rose Bowl, thanks to insane plays like this one from Godwin.
We’ve seen time and time again this season, especially in the Big Ten title game recently, that when this Penn State offense starts to click, the magic happens. Usually that takes place in the second half, but they’ve decided to start things a little earlier in Pasadena on Monday.
Now the only question is whether or not they can keep it all up the rest of the way and potentially come away with the improbable Rose Bowl win during their first season with full scholarships back.
