Here’s how to watch Monday afternoon’s Outback Bowl matchup between Florida and Iowa online.
Florida hasn’t been the most impressive team out of the SEC this season, and that may have something to do with the Gators’ lack of offense. In fact, the defense has been carrying the team and it was the lack of scoring which doomed them in the SEC title game against Alabama.
The consolation prize for the Gators after losing the SEC Championship to the Crimson Tide for the second straight year was an Outback Bowl invite. Two cornerbacks, Quincy Wilson and Teez Tabor, will be looking to improve their draft stock against the Hawkeyes.
Austin Appleby, a former Purdue quarterback, is getting the start in place of Luke Del Rio and one of his last starts in the Big Ten was against Iowa. He passed for over 250 yards and a touchdown. Could he have the same luck in this one?
Like the Gators, the Iowa Hawkeyes haven’t had the best offense this year and that cost them a couple of games. The Hawkeyes finished the 2015 regular season 12-0 and made it to the Big Ten Championship and the expectations were high for 2016.
However, the Hawkeyes lost to North Dakota State in the beginning of the year and it was clear that the 2016 season wouldn’t be as successful. After a sluggish start to the season, the Hawkeyes won their last three games, two of which came against ranked opponents.
C.J. Beathard has been a disappointment this season as he was expected to be one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten. Akrum Wadley and LeShun Daniels Jr. along with a solid defense have bailed him out more often than not.
