USC defensive back Leon McQuay picked off Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley late in the game to set up a Rose Bowl victory.
In incredible fashion, the USC Trojans created one of the biggest comebacks in the history of the Rose Bowl. With 17 straight points in the fourth quarter, the Trojans won an emotional game that ended with an incredible field goal. That play did not happen without Leon McQuay III.
As the game was tied late in the game, the Penn State Nittany Lions had one last chance to go down the field and win the game. As Trace McSorley went deep, he threw an ill-advised pass to McQuay, who returned it into Penn State territory.
The Trojans would rush for some yards to set up the winning field goal by Matt Boermeester. He would kick it through and the Trojans would come away with the huge victory in what was probably one of the best Rose Bowls ever.
It was an interesting throw by McSorley, as he threw a risky pass just before it that was almost picked off. Still, Penn State tempted fate and they ended up getting burned by it in an epic fashion late.
Every big win takes one player stepping up late to make the play and after a tough day on the field in the secondary, McQuay grabbed the ball and took it back to help set up the win for his team in an amazing performance.
