The Green Bay Packers will host the New York Giants at Lambeau Field this Sunday. Should they win, they will have to win two other games before advancing to the Super Bowl.

One former Green Bay Packers great likes their odds of doing just that:

“Taking emotion out of it, I believe that the Packers are a team to beat, and I believe that they will be in the Super Bowl.”

Brett Favre stated this on his weekly SiriusXM Radio show.

The Packers have been one of the NFL’s hottest teams of late, winning their last six games en route to an NFC North championship. Aaron Rodgers has emerged as an MVP candidate on the strength of his play down the stretch, struggles on both sides of the ball have been alleviated and the Packers appear to be a dangerous playoff matchup.

The relationship of Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers has been complicated. When Favre returned to play for the Jets and Vikings at the end of his playing career, some Packers fans were upset at his decisions. However, things have been eased since Brett Favre went into the Hall of Fame and had his number retired in Green Bay. Packers fans will surely respond well to his support of their team, as he has been all season.

Favre has actually been a vocal supporter of the Packers even when things weren’t as bleak this year. Favre said on his show back when the Packers were 7-6: “This sounds crazy, but I think that they are the favorite for the Super Bowl in the NFC. I mean, they’ve got to get in the playoffs, but I think that will happen and I think that they will go all the way.”

Favre was right to point out that the Packers were a dangerous team. Time will have to tell if his most recent prediction will be right as well.
