High Value PF
James Johnson-Miami Heat (5,400): Johnson’s versatility has been key for Miami overcoming their injuries this season and he logged plenty of time at center with Hassan Whiteside out in small lineups against the Pistons on Sunday. He should be in for another heavy workload tonight with Josh McRoberts, Whiteside, and Justise Winslow all out tonight. Johnson had 37.6 fantasy points in Boston on Friday on 22-3-6 and followed that with 33.9 fantasy points against Detroit on 20-7-3. He should be able to get to 30+ fantasy points again tonight as he tries to help the Heat fill in all the gaps as they face the Suns in a prime matchup for PF. ∗∗∗∗
Thaddeus Young-Indiana Pacers (5,200): Young could also be forced to step up tonight if the Pacers are without Jeff Teague. Young had 26+ fantasy points in five of his previous six games before struggling to just 16.1 fantasy points on Sunday. His best game during that run came against Boston when he had 15-12-4 for 36.4 fantasy points on December 22, but he could be near those numbers again tonight against Detroit if Teague’s absence earns him extra usage. ∗∗
Dwight Powell-Dallas Mavericks (4,400): Powell has been picking up minutes with injuries and illness keeping Andrew Bogut and Dirk Nowitzki limited. He was able to get a double-double on Friday in Golden state for 31.1 fantasy points and has at least 20 fantasy points in in three straight and five of his last seven. Powell is a risky play if both Dirk and Bogut are active tonight, but he still makes some sense since Washington is in the top ten of worst teams defending opposing PF.∗∗
Jonas Jerebko-Boston Celtics (3,600): Jerbko has been getting more playing time with the Celtics lately and he gives them a nice floor-spacing option next to Al Horford when they go small. He had 24.4 fantasy points against the Cavs on Thursday and 18.1 fantasy points against the Heat on Friday in Boston’s last two games. He’s a flier to keep an eye on, but he’s extremely high-risk since Brad Stevens loves to tinker with his rotation from game-to-game based on matchup.∗
