With all of the latest enhancements that the Apple iOS update will have, there’s one part that will quite possibly be the most annoying thing ever invented: an app that allows you to text while at the movies.
Someone asked for this, and it’s about to be a thing now.
According to Mashable, when the new Apple iOS update comes out on January 10th, it will feature a dimmer button that will allow its users to text their friends in dark theaters … presumably because you need to share spoilers RIGHT THEN AND THERE.
Naturally, when the news about this feature got out, people were none too happy.
New #iPhone Movie Theater mode, makes texting during a movie easier... Best mode for your phone is OFF. You're not that important.

That about sums it up.
The news was leaked by Sonny Dickson, a renowned Australian leaker. He said that in the new Apple iOS update, the feature would be available from a control center.
The name of the mode is, appropriately enough, “Theater Mode,” and will be denoted by a popcorn icon.
iOS 10.3 beta 1 is scheduled to seed on January 10th.

iOS 10.3 to feature a new Theatre mode - will include a new popcorn-shaped Control Center icon.

This would be second Apple iOS 10 update in a month — the previous update, 10.2, was released a few days ago. In this update, the only thing that was changed was the number of emoji available.
It doesn’t look like there will be any room in the control panel for this “Theater Mode;” however, it’s possible that the icons in the control panel will be made smaller to accommodate this additional “popcorn” icon.
As of this writing, Apple has not commented on this proposed update to iOS 10.
And while there is certainly some question as to the validity of Dickson’s claims — a previous “leak” by him proved to be false — the Apple iOS update is sure to cause some comment in the tech world.
