Grayson Allen back in Duke lineup after one-game suspension
Duke Blue Devils guard Grayson Allen will return to the lineup against Georgia Tech on Wednesday night, after having served a one-game suspension.
It appears that the indefinite suspension is finally over for Duke Blue Devils guard Grayson Allen. After another tripping incident and meltdown on the bench against Elon left Allen suspended, it appears that he will be returning to the lineup at home against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Wednesday night.
Allen’s trip and ensuing suspension drew a lot of ire after yet another repeated incident on the basketball floor. There has been a lot of discussion and debate over the way head coach Mike Krzyzewski has handled the situation. While he is out tending to an issue with his back and Jeff Capel is filling in for the time being, it’s clear their has been a decision made to get Allen back in the lineup.
It’s hard to see that only Capel was the one making this decision. This is likely something that had to be decided across the board with Krzyzewski’s blessing after the scrutiny the program went under. One thing is for sure and that is that all eyes will be on Allen every time he hits the floor.
While the Blue Devils have only had one game that he’s been suspended for, there’s been plenty of time since the incident for Allen and the program to digest and learn from. If he can keep his emotions in check and not trip anyone on the floor and not blow up on the bench, then it will prove he’s learned his lesson.
There will certainly be plenty of debate about whether or not they brought him back too quick as well. This is just one of those situations they’re going to have monitor going forward on the season.
