Here’s the full schedule for the first Hockey Night In Canada of 2017 on January 7.
2016 was a great year for hockey. 2017 should prove to be even better. Hockey Night In Canada will make its 2017 debut on Saturday Jan. 7. There will be four NHL games on the schedule with six Canadian teams set to play. The coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with three of the four games set to start at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Starting at 7:00 p.m. ET on CBC and TVAS, the Montreal Canadiens visit the Toronto Maple Leafs. This game will also be shown on NHL Network. The two Atlantic Division rivals will square off as both teams are looking to start 2017 off on a good note. Toronto is fighting for one of the wild card spots while Montreal enters 2017 on top of the Atlantic Division.
The second of the 7:00 games will be between the Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators. This game will be shown on TVAS2, CITY, and CSN-DC and will be played at the Canadian Tire Centre. The two teams faced each other on New Year’s Day, with the Capitals winning 2-1. Erik Karlsson and Alex Ovechkin will lead their respective teams as both teams hope to make the postseason.
Finally, the trio of 7:00 games ends when the New Jersey Devils host the visiting Edmonton Oilers. This game will be shown on SportsNet and MSG+. The two teams will be facing each other for the first time since the Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson trade. New Jersey will be looking to start 2017 on a good note after entering the year as one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.

Starting at 10:00 p.m. ET, the Calgary Flames will host the Vancouver Canucks. This game will be broadcasted on CBC and SportsNet. The two Pacific Division rivals will square off as the Flames hope to maintain their spot in the postseason.
