Damon Harrison has playoff experience (in Madden)
New York Giants defensive tackle Damon Harrison is ready for the playoffs because he reaches them every year in Madden.
Playoff experience is considered very valuable in every professional sport. Damon Harrison of the New York Giants has not played in the NFL playoffs since joining the team in 2012 per se. The Giants have missed the playoffs every year since winning the Super Bowl in 2011, but Harrison apparently won the Super Bowl just last night while playing Madden as the Green Bay Packers.
Harrison’s G-Men take on Aaron Rodgers’ Packers on Sunday in the Wild Card round. Harrison is ready for whatever the QB might throw at him after controlling him with his thumbs all season. NFL players take their Madden tendencies and skill ratings seriously.
In all seriousness, Harrison and the Giants pose a very real threat to Rodgers and the Packers regardless of postseason experience. Green Bay did beat the Giants in Week 5 by a touchdown, but the New York defense is one of the stoutest in the league. After starting 2-3, the Giants rolled to a 9-2 finish. Harrison has started all 16 games and has registered 86 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Playoff experience does count for something in most sports, but less so in the NFL. Unlike baseball and basketball which rely on very specialized techniques that can be thrown off my nerves or adrenaline, football is more reliant on pure physicality. The Giants do have Eli Manning at quarterback, the one position where it really does help to have postseason experience.
Harrison and the Giants are getting 4.5 points on the road at Lambeau Field this Sunday. A few more hours on Madden might be enough to put them over the top and into the Divisional round.
