Giants vs. Packers: Picks, predictions and odds
Here are the latest picks, predictions, and odds for Sunday’s NFC Wild Card game between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers
On Sunday Jan. 8, starting at 4:40 p.m. ET, the NFC North champion Green Bay Packers will host the New York Giants in the Wild Card round of the 2016 postseason. It’s a game between two teams that enter the playoffs on a hot streak.
The Giants are 3-2 over their last five games and had a 4-4 road record during the regular season. Meanwhile, Green Bay has won their last six games after starting the season 4-6 to finish the season at 10-6. While New York has an 11-5 record, the game is at Lambeau Field thanks to Green Bay winning the NFC North.
This game should come down to a few factors. The first being how well the Giants defense will play against Aaron Rodgers and the surging Packers offense. A driving factor of Green Bay’s six game winning streak, Rodgers has thrown 15 touchdown passes and zero interceptions over that span. The Giants have a lot of confidence after shutting down Kirk Cousins in Week 17.
Another factor will be Green Bay’s defense taking on New York’s offense. The Packers’ defense is allowing under 20 points per game during their six game winning streak. While the Giants haven’t had much of a rushing attack all season, they sure did in Week 17 against the Washington Redskins. Could this be a sign of things to come?
Odds
Spread: Green Bay (-4.5)
Money Line: New York (+230) Green Bay (-280)
Over under: 47
These are the odds as of Wednesday Jan. 4. Green Bay, unsurprisingly, is favored to get the win at home. They are quite difficult to beat at Lambeau Field. The over under is set at a very reasonable 47.
Against the spread, the Packers are 5-1 over their last six games while the Giants are 8-3 in their last 11 games. While the over under has gone over in four of Green Bay’s last five games, it has gone under in seven of New York’s last eight games.
Prediction
This will be a hard fought game with Green Bay’s magical run continuing.
