LSU Tigers All-American safety Jamal Adams will forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility to enter the 2017 NFL Draft.
As no surprise, the LSU Tigers star All-American safety Jamal Adams has decided to enter the 2017 NFL Draft. He will be forgoing his final year of collegiate eligibility in Baton Rouge.
According to ESPN’s David Ching, Adams will be “the third LSU underclassmen to skip his senior year and enter the 2017 NFL Draft,” joining the likes of running back Leonard Fournette and defensive end Davon Godchaux.

LSU has been arguably the best school in producing NFL defensive back talent in the last several years. Former Tigers like Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, and Morris Claiborne all have their roots with the Baton Rouge collegiate powerhouse.
Adams is considered one of the few true blue-chip prospects in the NFL. He is a certain top-six pick, as he won’t get past the New York Jets picking at No. 6 in the 2017 NFL Draft. Adams could land with the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 4 or with the Tennessee Titans at No. 5.
Coming out of LSU, Adams has drawn two outstanding NFL comparisons. Some scouts view him as the next Troy Polamalu, who will be a first-ball Pro Football Hall of Famer for his unbelievable 12 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Looking at a player currently in the league, Adams draws favorable comparisons to the Kansas City Chiefs’ Eric Berry.
To be compared to both Polamalu and Berry coming out of school as a true junior, that means NFL scouts believe that Adams has undeniable talent that will adequately translate to the next level.

Should he land with Jacksonville at No. 4, he’d be in the same defensive backfield with last year’s No. 5 overall pick Jalen Ramsey. Remember that Ramsey was the can’t-miss defensive back prospect of the 2016 NFL Draft class. He drew comparisons from Deion Sanders and Tyrann Mathieu. Adams would be an amazing get for the Jaguars at No. 4.
