As the awards season officially kicks off Sunday night with the 74th Annual Golden Globes Ceremony, “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon will take over hosting duties for the first time in his career.

The Golden Globes have always been one of the more loose and edgy awards ceremonies of the awards season, as the hosts and guests alike tend to get up on stage and have a little more fun than they might at the classier, more exclusive Academy Awards. This year, Jimmy Fallon, former Saturday Night Live cast member and host of The Tonight Show on NBC, will take over the hosting reins from Ricky Gervais this Sunday night in what he has promised to be an interesting night.

Fallon, who hosted the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards in 2010, is no stranger to controversial humor, especially when it comes to merging politics with the entertainment world. In a series of tweets back in August, even before the 2016 presidential election had occurred, Fallon seemed primed and ready to insert Donald Trump into his opening monologue.

In a recent interview with Matt Lauer on The Today Show regarding the contents of his opening monologue, Fallon remained coy, however, about whether or not the President-Elect, whose inauguration is a little over two weeks away, would be the center of the NBC comedian’s punchlines. Fallon stated, “That’s classified. Only me and Russian hackers know who I’m going to hit,” which only adds fuel to the fire for a potential spectacle Sunday night.

As always, social media should be firing on all cylinders with tweets, memes, and GIF’s for all at the Golden Globes, especially taking into account Fallon’s edgier comedic touch. Regardless of how one feels about the inclusion of political jokes at the ceremony, this is an awards show you won’t want to miss.

The Golden Globes airs Sunday, January 8, at 8/7 p.m. Central.
