Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen was caught on TV wearing an interesting hat and Twitter roasted him over it.

When you’re as rich as Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen is, you can wear anything you want and not care what people say. That rule certainly went into effect during the NFC Wild Card Round game between the Seahawks and Detroit Lions on Saturday night.

As the NBC cameras panned over the owner’s box in Seattle, Paul Allen was shown wearing one of those new winter hats the NFL put out with the ear flaps. While it was a team hat, it still looked funny all things considered.

Needless to say, people on Twitter took great joy over Allen’s choice of wardrobe and his expression. Their tweets were on par with your local standup club on a Saturday night.

If those hats don’t begin selling fast after all the publicity got, then it will be a shame. Maybe it’s freezing in the box he’s sitting in, but one has to wonder why he would wear the hat inside an owner’s box.

Then again, he didn’t make his fortune by thinking conventionally like everyone else. The game was a bit of slow one through the first three quarters, but the hat might have been the most interesting thing next to Paul Richardson’s one-handed catch.

After a catch like that, he deserves to have his own funny hat. On the other hand, the Seahawks’ offensive line will have to earn theirs.
