With the release of NBA All-Star votes, Anthony Davis had reason to feel disrespected. He may have taken out that frustration on the Knicks on Monday night.

Early returns on NBA fan voting came out earlier this week and Western frontcourt results generated most interest, especially for Anthony Davis.

While most headlines centered around Zaza Pachulia currently being voted as an All-Star starter by fans, Anthony Davis certainly couldn’t have been thrilled about placing fourth in Western frontcourt voting.

Tonight’s game wasn’t anything abnormal. Anthony Davis plays at a high level whenever he takes the court. He holds season averages of 28.8 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks each time he takes the court. Those averages rank him second, sixth, and first respectively among all NBA players. Despite holding these numbers, that hasn’t been reflected in voting.

Anthony Davis completely took over the Knicks on the road tonight. New York jumped out to a quick 12-5 lead over the New Orleans Pelicans at Madison Square Garden despite the mysterious absence of Derrick Rose. Davis dominated the game whenever he was on the floor from then on. He had 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Pelicans carried a 60-51 lead at halftime.

Anthony Davis took over the game in the third quarter even more than he did in the first half. He scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the third quarter along the way to 40 and 18 in just three quarters. As a result, the Knicks got frustrated after failing to slow him down. Carmelo Anthony got ejected for his NBA-leading third time and Kyle O’Quinn got ejected for a dirty play.

Anthony Davis hit his technical free throws and left the game with the Pelicans up 24 at the end of the third. He did not have to return in the Pelicans’ 110-96 victory.

Next: Paul Millsap not being traded?

Davis shot 14-for-22 from the field and 11-for-12 from the line en route to his 40-point night. He dominated the game in a manner that very few players are capable of and reminded fans of what he is capable of.
