Anu Solomon has reportedly chosen Baylor as his next destination, which could be huge for Matt Rhule

Anu Solomon recently decided that he would transfer from the Arizona Wildcats after losing his starting position this past season, and now he has apparently set a destination. According to a report from 247Sports, Solomon has decided to head to the Baylor Bears as a graduate transfer for the 2017 college football season. Of course, as a graduate transfer, Solomon will be able to compete for the starting job immediately.

Solomon burst onto the scene in Arizona during the 2014 season, where he helped lead the Wildcats to a Pac-12 South title with his 3,793 yards passing and 28 touchdowns. That season also earned them a berth in the Fiesta Bowl.

However, throughout the past two seasons, Solomon has battled injuries, and that ultimately led to him losing his position this past season. It wasn’t all that much of a shock that he was transferring, especially considering the circumstances.

Bottom line is that this is a huge coup for Matt Rhule in his first season as the Baylor head coach. In Solomon he’s getting an experienced signal-caller who has seen action in 30 total games during his career. Assuming that he can stay healthy, and also assuming that he beats out sophomore Zach Smith who was the Baylor quarterback down the stretch, having Solomon run the offense for Rhule during his first season may be able to ease the transition a little bit. When he’s fully healthy, we know that Solomon can do some heavy damages to defenses — and, well, we all know that the Big 12 isn’t exactly know prominently for their success on that side of the ball.

When we look back on the first season of Rhule at Baylor, there is a very good chance that bringing Solomon on as a transfer was a big reason for it potentially being a success.
