Alabama’s star running back Bo Scarbrough was taken back to the locker room after injuring his leg while being tackled
For both the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers, offense was hard to come by on Monday night. Sure, both teams produced decent enough yardage, but there was no sustainability to their drives. Seemingly, it was only when a big play or quick stroke of brilliance would strike that points would get on the board. And for the Crimson Tide, it was running back Bo Scarbrough giving them that.
In the third quarter, Scarbrough was just shy of 100 yards rushing on the night and already had two touchdowns to his credit. With Clemson looking to complete a comeback, Alabama was instead looking to feed their workhorse running back and chew clock—and potentially score again. Instead, they were in danger of losing their biggest weapon.
Scarbrough took a simple carry for a solid gain and was wrapped up for a routine tackle. Unfortunately, the angle that the running back got taken down at forced an awkward takedown. In the process, his leg got caught under the Clemson tackler and was twisted in a weird way. He stayed down in obvious pain after the play:
After walking off of the field under his own power—following being checked on by trainers, Scarbrough was taken back to the locker room.
He eventually returned to the sidelines, but stayed there to continue treatment. It’s being called a lower leg injury and his return was listed as questionable early in the fourth quarter, per the ESPN broadcast.
