Clemson Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson tried to rush for a first down and a massive hit sent him spinning in the air.

Deshaun Watson isn’t afraid to take chances running the ball from the quarterback position. It’s a big part of the reason his team has made two straight National Championship Games and why he’s one of the top quarterback prospects. However, sometimes risks don’t always pay off.

With Watson looking to make something happen against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the third quarter on Monday night, he tried to use his size and speed to get the first down. Instead, he took a massive hit and went spinning like a helicopter.

As Watson got close to the first down, Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster smacked him so hard that he was launched in the air and did a complete rotation. It was a terrifying hit for anyone and caused everyone to take a deep breath considering it was Watson.

No one wants to see the quarterback take a hit like that, but Watson is a tough player that can handle it. Still, it would probably better serve him if he didn’t have to take hits like that one on a repeated basis.

With a National Championship on the line, quarterbacks have to make the plays to help their team end up in a position to win. He didn’t get the first and he gave it his all. He did all that even if it meant he was going to take a brutal hit in return.
