Monday, Jan. 9 will be the day we find out who will be the next national champion in college football. The 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship Game will be between the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (14-0) and the No. 3 Clemson Tigers (13-1).
Kickoff from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa will be at 8:00 p.m. ET. ESPN will have the national broadcast. Who will be calling the game for ESPN?
In the booth for ESPN for the national championship will be Chris Fowler as the play-by-play announcer with Kirk Herbstreit with the color commentary and the analysis. On the sidelines gathering information from both teams during the game will be Samantha Ponder.
The College Football Playoff has been shown exclusively on ESPN since its creation back in the 2014 NCAA season. ESPN has exclusive broadcasting rights to the two national semifinal games as part of the New Year’s Six bowl games and the national title coming a week later.
This will be a rematch of the 2015 national title that saw No. 2 Alabama beat No. 1 Clemson 45-40 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale on January 12th. The difference in that championship bout was Alabama’s ability to execute better on special teams.
For some college football fans that wanted a more nationally reaching championship, this game may not be for you, as Alabama and Clemson are national powers in the Southeastern United States.

However, it is best to put regional bias aside, as these are clearly the two best teams in college football for a second consecutive year. How many opportunities are there to see a rematch in a national championship in college football? This one should be a real treat for anybody that likes outstanding college football.
