With college football coming to an end, it is now time to focus our attention on college basketball. Here are the latest Big 12 Power Rankings.
Conference play has just begun, and we just now are starting to get a feel for who these teams are and how dangerous they can be. The Big 12, like most years, looks to be a strong conference from top to bottom.
With that being said, how does this conference shape out as we head into the big months of February and March? We will provide weekly power rankings to help. We will look at not just who is playing the best right now, but who has the ability to be the best moving forward. Here are your Big 12 power rankings.
10. Oklahoma
No Buddy, big problem. The Sooners did lose Buddy Hield, a senior leader who went in the lottery of the NBA Draft. However, they also lost a stretch four in Ryan Spangler and a long and talented guard in Isaiah Cousins.
That being said, this has every look of a rebuilding year. The Sooners have lost six straight, and three in conference play. While some of the out-of-conference play was tough, the Sooners would have to go on one heck of a run here to make any consideration for the NCAA tournament without winning the conference tournament. They will have to start this week with a huge home game against No. 2 Kansas, followed by a weekend home game with Texas Tech.
9. TCU
Until we see TCU, it is too tough to believe TCU. TCU was 8-4 last season heading into conference play and proceeded to go 2-16. Yes, I know Jaime Dixon is now in control of this team and seems to have them on the right track. However, he has yet to fully dig into the trenches of this program, and a 12-3 start, plus winning one of their first three conference games, feels like exceeding expectations already. TCU has two huge games this week, at West Virginia and at Texas, and we will truly see if this team needs to be pushed up the rankings or not.
