Clemson wide receiver Hunter Renfrow caught the final pass of the game and won the National Championship for his team against Alabama.

In what turned out to be one of the best fourth quarters of any National Championship Game ever, the Clemson Tigers won the game on an incredible final play. With Clemson needing to drive the field to win the game, Deshaun Watson made the plays to get his team down the field. Then one last time, he found Hunter Renfrow.

With six seconds left on the clock and the ball on the two-yard line, Watson rolled out to his right and found Renfrow wide open right in the corner of the end zone. He would hit him with a pass immediately and the Tigers would take the lead with just one second-remaining.

For Renfrow, it was another touchdown reception against Alabama in his career and the biggest moment of his career. When the Tigers were counting on him to make the play and win it, he came through by holding onto the pass.

Watson showed tremendous poise by understanding the time that was left on the clock and what he had to do to get the win. With the team that hasn’t trailed in the fourth quarter showing some vulnerability on defense, he executed against man coverage well and delivered his team the National Championship in the rematch after a tough loss last year.

It was an incredible game that took a lot of effort from the elder statesmen of Clemson. It’s a moment and a classic game that no one will soon forget. For Renfrow, it’s the play that will define his career.
