Joel Embiid tries to get cute, Kristaps Porzingis stuffs him (Video)
Joel Embiid is having a monster season, but Kristaps Porzingis didn’t care all that much, swatting the young star.
Joel Embiid is one of the bright young stars in the NBA and there’s a reason the 76ers’ upper management wanted to drill across the point of fans “trusting the process” instead of giving up.
Well, multiple top draft picks and a finally healthy Embiid will ease the minds of Philadelphia faithful.
In his first healthy season since being drafted in 2014, Embiid has burst onto the scene. He looks like the same player who was considered a potential No. 1 overall pick just a few years ago while still at Kansas.
Injuries forced him to wait on the start of his career, but he’s taking the league by storm and many are considering him an All-Star.
However, last year’s breakout star Kristaps Porzingis wasn’t impressed by the rookie (technically) sensation on Wednesday night when he was trying to get too cute.

Embiid was dribbling it around like he was about to show up Porzingis, but the Knicks’ star said “not so fast” in true Lee Corse fashion.
No, it wasn’t a devastating block by any means, but to see Embiid brought back down to earth a bit is always nice. While he’s one of the better personalities out there, he seems to have been reading his own headlines lately.
On the year, though, Embiid is averaging 19.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game and is molding into that dominant post presence that Philadelphia wanted when it drafted him.
As long as he can figure out how to make a jump shot over 7-foot-3 post players, he will have a future in this league. OK, I kid, but this was still a sight to see.
Embiid will likely forget about this when he drops 20 points and 10 rebounds next time out.
