NBA betting odds: Wednesday’s lines

Six NBA games are on the docket tonight for bettors to wage on. However, in many cases, an actual record may be deceiving when the lines factor in.

It’s battle between youth and experience when the New York Knicks take a trip down the Jersey Turnpike to face the Philadelphia 76ers. A record of 10-25 doesn’t sound very promising for Philly but it actually matches their total wins from last season. Furthermore, when going against the spread, they are a solid 18-17, including 18-14 as the underdog.

Even with injuries and roster moves, the Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder have maintained solid records, at 24-16 and 23-16, respectably. Ironically, both become very average when you decide to put money on them (18-20-2 and 19-19-1 against the spread). In other words, it should be an exciting game to watch, but a crapshoot to profit from.

The Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics are equally as maddening for bettors. The former has six fewer wins ATS than their actual record, whereas the latter has four fewer.

The red hot Houston Rockets aim for their tenth consecutive win when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. In any other year, do-it-all point guard James Harden would be running away with the MVP thus far, but there’s a guy named Westbrook in OKC who’s averaging a triple double.

The Orlando Magic travel to Los Angeles to face the Clippers in one of the evening’s two late games. The Clips are the definition of a roller coaster: Four straight wins, which followed six straight losses, which was preceded by winning six of seven.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who play at the Portland Trailblazers, have picked up where they left off last season, when they ended the city’s championship drought. But don’t be so quick to be on them: A 28-9 record dramatically dips to 14-21-2 ATS.
