Report: Anthony Lynn wants to add Ken Whisenhunt, Gus Bradley to Chargers staff
New Chargers coach Anthony Lynn is looking at bringing in two big names for his staff in Los Angeles.
The Chargers have had quite the 24 hours. They first announced their move from San Diego to Los Angeles, which will go into effect for the 2017 season. What will come as a secondary headline is the hiring of Anthony Lynn to be the team’s new head coach. He is formerly of the Buffalo Bills and coached them in their final game of 2016 against the New York Jets. This resulted from the firing of Rex Ryan just days prior.
Lynn will now be tasked with putting together a coaching staff. Judging by NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, this could come together somewhat quickly. The new Chargers coach is eyeing former head coaches Ken Whisenhunt and Gus Bradley to join his staff as the offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively.
Whisenhunt is formerly of the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans. He led the Cardinals to a Super Bowl appearance in 2008 before being fired after the 2012 season. That led to a stint as the Chargers offensive coordinator for one season, which led to the Titans hiring him away as the head coach in 2014. However, the Georgia Tech alumnus only lasted one-and-a-half season in Tennessee, getting fired after just winning three of his 23 games.
Bradley had four double-digit loss season with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2013-2016. During his latest season as head coach, the Jaguars fired him after compiling a 2-12 record. He finished 14-48 overall.

The coaching changes and relocation represent a new era for the Chargers, who may look like a completely different team next fall. They will have a new head coach in Anthony Lynn, new city, temporary home stadium, a scrutinized “working logo,” and potentially new players to lead the franchise.
