High Salary PG
Russell Westbrook-Oklahoma City Thunder (12,800): Westbrook and the Thunder are in Minnesota tonight as they take on the Timberwolves. When the two teams met on Christmas Day, Westbrook dropped 31-7-15 (points-rebounds-assists) in 33 minutes for 60.9 fantasy points. Since then he has only reached 60 fantasy points in three of his nine games. He fell just short of 60 fantasy points on Wednesday despite a 24-13-12 triple-double against Memphis. With a price tag over 12K, Westbrook has to be a total beast to return full value of 60-65 fantasy points. He’s definitely capable of doing that, but I think he’s risky tonight on the road.∗∗
Isaiah Thomas-Boston Celtics (9,000): While Thomas’s 9K salary is still a hefty one, it’s almost 4K cheaper than Westbrook’s. Thomas is in a great matchup tonight against the Hawks who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game in the NBA to opposing PG so far this season. Thomas has been red-hot over his last five games averaging 31.2 points, 6.0 assists, and 3.6 rebounds. He has over 46 fantasy points in five of his last seven games, and he’ll have to carry the load agin for Boston tonight since Avery Bradley didn’t make the trip to Atlanta. ∗∗∗∗
Kemba Walker-Charlotte Hornets (8,100): Walker has at least 39 fantasy points in five of his last six games, and he continues to out-perform his salary making him worth a look as Charlotte visits Philadelphia tonight. Walker had 25-6-10 in Houston in his last game on Tuesday, and he’ll welcome back backcourt-mate Nicolas Batum tonight which will get the Hornets closer to full-strength but could also cost him a bit of usage.∗∗∗
Mike Conley-Memphis Grizzlies (7,900): Conley has been on a nice six-game run since returning from a two-game absence on New Year’s Eve. He has at least 17 points in all six of those games and has added good assists, rebounds, and steals as well to produce 34 fantasy points or more in five of those six games. He had 22-4-6 for 39.8 fantasy points against the Thunder on Wednesday, and he’ll be in a good place to produce tonight as Memphis visits Houston and tries to keep up with the high-flying Rockets. ∗∗∗
Ricky Rubio-Minnesota Timberwolves (6,200): Rubio is having a great homes and with back-to-back double-doubles with over 40 fantasy points against the Rockets and Mavericks. He had 13-5-15 with five steals for 48.5 fantasy points on Monday against Dallas and followed that with 40.1 fantasy points on 10-3-17 against Houston. Tonight, he’ll face the Thunder who he had 3-6-10 against on Christmas for 29.2 fantasy points. If he can continue finding ways to score double-digits like he has in each of his last three games, he’ll be a nice play at this price.∗∗∗∗
