High Value PG

Marcus Smart-Boston Celtics (5,600): Smart has been playing huge while Avery Bradley has been out. He has at least 30 minutes in six of his last seven games with over 33 fantasy points in three straight beer Wednesday’s underwhelming 17.8 fantasy points against the Wizards. In that contest, he had just 9-4-4 after posting 14-2-8, 22-5-6, and 16-4-5 over his previous three games. He’s in a great matchup against the Hawks in Atlanta tonight, so he should be set to bounce back as one of the better cheap PG options.∗∗

T.J. McConnell-Philadelphia 76ers (5,400): McConnell has laid his claim to the starting PG spot for Philadelphia and has been playing very well lately. He hit the game-winner against the Knicks on Wednesday while posing 8-6-7 with two steals for 27.7 fantasy points. He has at least 27 fantasy points in four of his last five games and usually contributes across the board meaning he can have a good fantasy game even if his scoring numbers aren’t great. He is playing with loads of confidence for a Sixers team that isn’t as bad as many people think.∗∗∗∗

Malcolm Brogdon-Milwaukee Bucks (5,300): Another PG who is rising into a spot in his team’s starting lineup is Bucks’ rookie Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon filled in so well for Matthew Dellavedova that even with Delly back Brogdon should keep starting and logging plenty of minutes. He has at least 31 fantasy points in three of his last four games and four of his last six. He had his best game during that stretch on New Year’s Eve with 15-10-12 against the Bulls totaling 42 fantasy points, but he also had 34+ fantasy points in each of his last two games while helping to fill in for the sick Giannis Antotkounmpo.

With the Greek Freak expected back in the lineup and 100% his usage may dip a little, but like McConnell he can produce solid numbers in other categories to make him a very viable option even when he’s scoring 10-15 points per game. Tonight, he and the Bucks host the Heat who typically defend opposing PG pretty well but have struggled lately allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing PG in their last five games. While both make good plays, I’d give a slight edge to Brogdon over McConnell tonight as long as he sticks in the starting lineup.∗∗∗∗

Ty Lawson-Sacramento Kings (4,200): Lawson has been bouncing in and out of the starting lineup, but he has remained pretty productive in either situation. He had at least 20 fantasy points in three straight games before a down game on Tuesday (just 9.4 fantasy points on 8-2-2). He should return to his consistent 20ish fantasy points tonight against the Cavs since coach Dave Joerger will likely start him and Darren Collison next to each other. If his lineup status is unknown he has more risk, but if he’s confirmed starting he definitely deserves a look at this price. If starting-∗∗∗∗ Not starting-∗∗ Unknown by roster lock-∗∗
