Watch Klay Thompson shoot and (presumably) swish a ball Stephen Curry wanted to kick

The Golden State Warriors need to suspend Klay Thompson for conduct detrimental to Stephen Curry’s warmup routine.

Pregame traditions of the two-time MVP continue to be more spectacle than prep. Anyone who has watched him cycle through pre-tip dribbling drills and shooting programs can attest that Curry’s slimnastics are a religion.

This season, he has taken to mimicking scenarios from different sports during warmups. Whether this was a habit before, I don’t know; if it was, it’s for public consumption now more than ever.

That brings us to Thursday night, when Curry meticulously set up a basketball place-kick (or something).  He laid the rock just inside the corner three-point line, situated his body, locked onto his target and was ready to showcase his soccer/field-goal-kicker skills.

But then Klay Thompson happened:

I’m dying. Is anyone else dying?

Everything about this is amazingly glorious. Curry seems so invested in making sure the ball is positioned just right, and in comes Thompson, completely oblivious to the entire situation.

And because blocking Curry with a practice three-pointer wasn’t enough, Thompson picks up the ball the baby-faced sniper is getting ready to boot, and takes another shot.

Curry’s reaction, by the way, is fantastic. He has the whole “I’m not angry with you, I’m just really disappointed, so I’m going to put my hands on my hips and stare at you” dad pose down.

There is no word yet if the Warriors plan on fining, suspending or trading Thompson. But we can certainly expect some disciplinary actions for this insubordination—even if it’s just forcing him to handwash JaVale McGee’s game-word tie-dyed compression shorts for a week.

Curry’s equilibrium, after all, has been thrown off enough with the addition of Kevin Durant. Interrupting his pregame rituals is going too far.
