West Ham face Crystal Palace at London Stadium on Saturday, Jan 14. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
A mammoth game between teams in the bottom half of the standings takes place in London on Saturday, as Sam Allardyce returns to West Ham for the first time after leaving his managerial duties with the east London side.
Allardyce, after three games in charge, hasn’t yet notched his first win as Crystal Palace’s new manager. This game will mean the world to him and Palace as they desperately need a win to climb away from the relegation zone. Palace are currently 17th in the standings, only one point adrift of the drop zone.
Palace don’t have a problem scoring goals but are one of the worst defensive teams in the top flight, which was one of the main reasons Allardyce was brought on board. Wilfried Zaha, their most offensively threatening player, isn’t available as he’s partaking in the Africa Cup of Nations.
They’ve conceded 37 goals, level with Sunderland for the third most in the Premier League.
West Ham have problems of their own to worry about. Dimitri Payet, the club’s marquee player, wants out of east London and has made his intentions clear. He is refusing to suit up for the club, saying a back injury is keeping him out.
But it looks like Payet may have played his last game with West Ham. With all the off-field issues, West Ham are actually in a decent vein of form. The Hammers have lost consecutive matches, but won three on the bounce beforehand.

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last four trips to West Ham United and the Hammers’ only win in a London derby this season came at Selhurst Park, while Palace have lost all four of their London derbies this campaign.
Crystal Palace may just have enough to earn Allardyce his first win with the club. Otherwise, look for a draw in this important encounter.
