A week full of marquee matchups and high-powered clashes has left us with a little more clarity in the Big East. We break down the Week 11 action, and where all the teams stand.

Since the last edition of these power rankings, we’ve had quite a bit of action to sort out. We’ve seen 13 separate games since last Wednesday — Ā with most of them inter-conferential affairs. There have been three games between the top four of the conference — all currently ranked in the AP top 25 — and several other quality matchups. Now that every team in the conference has played at least six Big East games, we’ve got quite a bit more info to inform where they stand. It’s Week 11 of the college basketball season, and Week 2 of the Big East power rankings. Let’s get to it.

Sorry, Georgetown. DePaul’s only Big East win is better.

After getting shellacked by Providence at the Verizon Center Monday night, the Hoyas are sharing the bottom of the current Big East standings with DePaul at 1-5. Their only other game this week came against UConn, where they came away with a close victory in the battle of ā€œfree-falling former stalwart Old Big East programs.ā€

Unfortunately, it’s not about to get better — they’ve got Xavier, Creighton, and Butler as their next three games. Who knows? Maybe they win one before dropping the next by 50. The Hoyas remain aĀ riddle wrapped in mystery meat.

DePaul claws out of the bottom spot this week, thanks toĀ some carryover good vibes from the Providence win last week. Ā It wasn’t a good week of play for them, though, with double-digit away losses to two of the more beatable teams in the conference in Marquette and St. John’s.

Their upcoming schedule gets even worse. Six of their next eight come against the ā€˜power 4’ of the Big East (Xavier, Creighton, Butler, and Villanova), with the only breaks coming against Georgetown and Marquette. Unless DePaul can hold serve against either — or find a way to peel one off the conference’s best — they’re facing the real prospect of staying at one Big East win until late February. Pray for Billy.
