Notre Dame’s seven-game winning streak has propelled the Fighting Irish to the No. 1 spot in the ACC standings. In fact, they are the only current program in the conference with an unbeaten record left in ACC action and that could change with a tough road game Wednesday night.

Just like most seasons, people doubted Mike Brey’s squad before the season as the Fighting Irish began the year unranked. Now, they are 16-2 with wins over Louisville, Iowa, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Miami. Not exactly the strongest schedule, but solid wins nonetheless.

Junior forward Bonzie Colson has been a double-double machine this season, averaging 15.8 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. The Irish have a solid offense and he leads the way. They shoot about 47 percent from the floor, 40 percent from three-point land and average 81 points per game.

Florida State, on the other hand, wasn’t even on the radar to start the year. The Seminoles are often considered a football school, but this season has changed that notion. Just like the Fighting Irish, the Seminoles are 16-2 but have one loss in conference play.

The Seminoles lost a tough one over the weekend at North Carolina, their first defeat since Nov. 24 against Temple. They have been red-hot and the ACC has a different look to it when both Notre Dame and Florida State are atop the conference standings.

Dwayne Bacon is a serious conference player of the year candidate, leading the team in scoring with 17.8 points per game to go along with 3.9 rebounds and a 47 percent field goal shooting rate. The Seminoles are shooting over 50 percent from the field as a team and average 87 points per contest.
