Algeria and Tunisia will battle in a critical African Cup of Nations Group B match on Thursday. This match is the second group stage contest for each side.
Tunisia lost to Senegal in their first match of the tournament. This match is paramount to them having a chance of making into the knockout round of the African Cup of Nations. A loss or a tie will effectively eliminate them after two matches, but three points against Algeria will keep them alive until the third round of group stage matches.
On the other hand, Algeria tied against Zimbabwe, 2-2. Algeria take on current Group B leaders Senegal in their final group stage match. As a result, the path to the knockout round is still in Algeria’s hands as long as they do not lose to Tunisia on Thursday. Algeria need to improve their goal differential if they hope to hold the tiebreaker, so a win against Tunisia by a large margin would be beneficial.
