In between breaks in the action, ESPN’s Bill Walton showered Dave Pasch with popcorn during their Pac-12 game between Oregon and Cal on Thursday night.
There are a lot of national holidays in America, but ESPN’s Bill Walton made sure that everybody watching ESPN 2 on Thursday, Jan. 19 knew that it was National Popcorn Day.
During a break in the action between the Oregon Ducks and the California Golden Bears, Walton doused fellow commentator Dave Pasch with a bucket of popcorn. Walton then began to utter one of the greatest soliloquies ever uttered during a nationally televised college basketball game.

A few weeks ago, Walton was seen wearing an Uncle Sam outfit on national television commentating the College Football National Championship between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers.
Now Walton has given us the greatest popcorn speech of all-time. It’s high school senior yearbook material. That’s for sure. Walton says, “It’s National Popcorn Day, please. Party on. Let’s go. It’s a wonderful day. It’s Oregon. The sun was out. Come on. The rivers are flowing. You ever seen a river before? How’s that…”
Every National Popcorn Day from here on out, we will think of Walton, Pasch, Oregon, rivers and if we’ve ever seen rivers before. While we all probably have seen a river before, Walton’s way with his words has us all wondering if we’re really missing the point of our lives?
We’re supposed to enjoy the little things, like rivers, Dave Pasch getting popcorn dumped on his head in Eugene, Oregon, and of course National Popcorn Day.
