John Wall went behind the back to seal a win for the Washington Wizards and beat Brandon Jennings and the New York Knicks.
The Washington Wizards started the season 3-9. Behind the play of point guard John Wall, they have turned their season around.
Wall led the Wizards from a halftime deficit to a come-from-behind victory over the New York Knicks Thursday night. With 19.6 seconds left, Wall sealed the victory for the Wizards with an absolutely incredible highlight play.
With the Wizards up one with just over 20 seconds left, the Knicks shot misfired and produced a long rebound. Wall gathered the rebound just inside the free-throw line with about 18 seconds remaining. As he looked up the court towards the Knicks’ basket, he saw just backup point guard Brandon Jennings between himself and the rim.
Wall dribbled as soon as he landed. Halfway between the three-point line and half-court, Jennings tried to force Wall to the sideline, but Wall had other ideas. He went behind his back with his left hand, getting the ball into his right. Jennings was completely fooled as Wall blew past him.
In approximately three seconds from when Wall rebounded the ball inside the Wizards’ free-throw line, he was taking off from just inside the Knicks’ free-throw line for an uncontested two-handed dunk.
The Knicks immediately called a timeout following Wall’s amazing end-to-end, behind-the-back highlight. With 13.7 seconds left, the Knicks were down three and had a chance to force overtime. But out of the timeout they could not even get a shot up.
