Robert Bobroczky made his varsity basketball debut as a high school freshman, all while the Romanian 16-year-old measures in at 7-foot-7

Most high school freshman deal with pretty mundane problems. You’re worried about the pimple popping up when you want to ask out the girl you’re crushing on. Or maybe you’re worried about the fact that you didn’t do your math homework and if the teacher is going to take it up. Robert Bobroczky, however, has other worries on top of the normal ones, though. Specifically, Bobroczky has to worry about things like not hitting his head on doorways and how he’s going to fit in a normal desk.

That’s because Bobroczky, as a 16-year-old freshman originally from Romania, is 7-foot-7. A student at the Spire Institute in Geneva, OH, the young man obviously towers over everyone in his class—and that includes his teammates on the basketball court.

Bobroczky is on the Spire Institute’s varsity basketball team and, this week, he made his debut for them. While he played just limited minutes, you can imagine the kind of task it is for high school kids to try and deal with that kind of size—even if his skill-set is, shall we say, limited. Here’s a look at his debut via MaxPreps (H/T Sports Illustrated):

As I said, his skills could use a bit of work. But when you watch him win a jump-ball without leaving the ground, you realize just how massive 7-foot-7 is, especially in high school basketball.

If Bobroczky doesn’t put on weight, develop his talent and get more in-tune with his size, he’s likely not going to sniff the NBA. If he were to while also growing (after all, he is just 16 years old), though, he would be the tallest player to ever play in the league. As for now, he’ll just hold the ball straight up over his head and watch the other high schoolers flail around to try and get it.
