LeBron James sent the Cleveland Cavaliers’ game against the San Antonio Spurs to overtime with a deep three-pointer on Saturday.

Earlier in the week, LeBron James called San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich the greatest coach in NBA history. Saturday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the San Antonio Spurs in ABC’s first prime time Saturday night game of the season.

The Spurs led by a couple of baskets for most of the fourth quarter. But with just under 40 seconds left, the Cavs trailed by three points. As you would expect, they turned to James with the game on the line.

Kevin Love held onto the ball on the left-wing just over the three-point line. Love passed the ball back to LeBron. James was just a few feet in front of the Cavaliers’ half court logo. The Spurs and the NBA’s reigning two-time Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard was out at the three-point line to contest the shot. But it did not matter to LeBron, who shot the ball as soon as he caught it.

Nothing but net. The Spurs called a time out immediately following the game-tying three. The Spurs players on the court were completely dejected following the basket. Out of the timeout, the Spurs could not hit a game-winning shot.

After LaMarcus Aldridge missed two free throws with 0.9 seconds left in the extra period that could have sealed the game for San Antonio, the Cavaliers had a chance to hit a second three-pointer to force another overtime.

With 0.3 seconds remaining, the Cavs had a chance to send the game to double overtime. However, Kevin Love’s three-point shot missed badly.
