Donald Trump doesn’t plan on attending Super Bowl LI in Houston, which actually isn’t something you should kill him for.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has been bashed for a number of things over the course of his ascension to the highest office in American politics. Sexist, misogynistic, racist and xenophobic have all been terms used to describe Trump.
Whatever you want to call him, you won’t be able to shout it at him at the Super Bowl in Houston in two weeks. Well, you can shout all you want but he won’t be in the building to hear your screams.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Trump’s director of strategic communications, Hope Kicks, said that the President has no plans to attend the Super Bowl in Houston.
Trump will be the subject of a pre-Super Bowl interview with Bill O’Reilly though, so it’s not like he won’t be present in the festivities. Before you kill Trump for skipping America’s Game — in a historically conservative town — it’s not uncommon for the President to skip the big game.
Obama wasn’t beating down the door to get into any Super Bowls during his presidency and it’s actually rare for a Commander in Chiefs to attend the game. There are a myriad of reasons to get upset at or revolt against Trump; skipping the Super Bowl shouldn’t be on that list.
What’s also notable about this is Trump’s friendship with Tom Brady. The Patriots quarterback never officially endorsed Trump during the election but quietly dropped hints that his rooting interests were with his friend.

Trump not attending the Super Bowl might be the first smart thing he’s done while in office. If only the big game had fallen on his first weekend off from the job.
Thanks, Goodell.
