As we inch closer to March Madness, we will look at who has best chances of making a run out of the Big 12 Conference

Conference play has just begun, and we now are starting to get a feel for who these teams are and how dangerous they can be. The Big 12, like most years, looks to be a strong conference from top to bottom.

With that being said, how does this conference shape out as we head into the big months of February and March? We will provide weekly power rankings to help. We will look at not just who is playing the best right now, but who has the ability to be the best moving forward.

Here are your Big 12 power rankings for Week 12 of the college basketball season.

The woes in Texas continue as this team extended their losing streak to five games. To be fair, their last three games came against ranked teams and the class of the conference and country, but there are no signs this ship will be righted this season. The Longhorns get back from a two-game road trip to host their arch rival Oklahoma this week, in a home game that will likely determine if they sit in the cellar all season or not. Saturday, they head to out of conference play a Georgia team that is better than expected in Athens.

Oklahoma at least showed some feistiness this week. They caught West Virginia sleeping and on the road pulled off what will likely be their signature win of the season. They also pushed Iowa State to the limit, before falling to the Cyclones at home in double-overtime. With an overtime performance against the Mountaineers as well, they may have some worn out legs for a quick turnaround game against conference rival Texas in Austin. If they can survive that they have an even tougher test in out of conference play against a strong Florida Gators team this weekend.
