Stanford Cardinal

Last week: 11-9 (3-5 Pac-12)
Last rank: 7

After three straight victories, the Stanford Cardinal dropped a game to Oregon. While that wasn’t shocking it knocks the Cardinal down a a peg or two in this week’s power rankings. With just one game, it’s a big week for the Cardinal. Not only just getting a big win and moving higher up in the power rankings but a chance to defeat their rivals, the California Golden Bears. While Stanford’s path to the tournament is far from easy and virtually impossible at this point, getting a win against your rival can lead to bigger things down the road.

Washington State Cougars

Last week: 10-9 (3-4 Pac-12)
Last rank: 9

Washington State had come down from their rip-roaring start to the conference slate and has now leveled off. They’ve got a pivotal stretch where they will face Arizona, USC and UCLA over the next two weeks. While it’s been nice to see Washington State in the mix in the middle of the conference totem pole, it’s possible that we will be seeing them slide down the rankings over the next few weeks. The ceiling might be the NIT for this team, that’s not a bad thing. Especially when you consider the Pac-12 may be a six-bid league when it’s all said and done.
