James Harden posted a historic triple-double as he singlehandedly helped the Houston Rockets defeat the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.

The national television attention was deserved as James Harden and the Houston Rockets took on Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night in Philadelphia. Harden made history as the NBA veteran posted another 50-point triple-double this season. This is his second 50-point triple-double this season, making him the first player to achieve such a feat.

Harden’s historic performance in Philadelphia just goes to show you the veteran’s full potential. It’s clear the Rockets are doing something right by building around the Beard.

When Harden isn’t on the court, the Rockets are a different team. That was clearly evident as the Sixers kept it close in his absence. Philadelphia’s defense had no way of stopping Harden offensively. He was a man on a mission and was doing it all at the Wells Fargo Center.

Harden also tied Oscar Roberston as the only players with five triple-doubles in a season with at least 40 points scored. Tonight’s historic achievement was his 14th triple-double of the season. For a little perspective, Hakeem Olajuwon had 14 for his entire Hall of Fame career in Houston.

There are still 32 more regular season games for the Rockets. Harden didn’t play the entire game tonight, but he still put up his second triple-double with 50 or more points of the season. This most likely won’t be the last time Harden scores 50 in a game. The Rockets are built around him and they succeed when the star is on point.

So far NBA opponents haven’t found a way to stop the NBA star. If they double or triple team him, then he picks up an assist by finding an open teammate. While some may bash the Rockets player for not playing defense on every play, they can’t shoot him down offensively.

Next: Harden proud of his defense

Each he puts on a show as NBA players and fans watch the greatness in front of them. Harden should be the NBA MVP front-runner. He is truly the most valuable player to his team unlike some of the other stars out there.
