Michigan Football needs to land these five recruits with National Signing Day 2017 approaching
Despite their loss in the Orange Bowl and being on the outside of the College Football Playoff, many would still contend that the Michigan Wolverines were one of the best football teams in the country. With a better quarterback and better luck with injuries, perhaps they would’ve never fallen out of the CFP. But now it’s on to recruiting and National Signing Day 2017 to try and help get there in 2017 and the years to come.
Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh have already built one heck of a recruiting class that includes Donovan Peoples-Jones, the No. 1 ranked receiver in the 24/7 Sports composite rankings. And that’s just the start for a top-5 rated class. However, they need to make it even better. Put simply, they need to finish strong and land a few more big names to make this recruiting process a success.
To do so, there are a number of guys that the Wolverines and Harbaugh must land. While they’ve been fantastic in landing the ones they want this season, there are still some recruits that they need to officially get destined for Ann Arbor. Here are the five recruits they must have in 2017 that are still unsigned.

High School: West Senior
Composite Rankings: No. 170 overall, No. 28 WR
Having already seen Peoples-Jones and a slew of others commit, it might be a bit surprising to see Oliver Martin find his way onto this list. When you consider that the Wolverines are also in play for Nico Collins, a 6-5 monster with a ton of potential at the position, that may even seem more curious. However, Martin is the type of receiver they need to really complement the young players they’re already bringing in.
Michigan has a pair of big-bodied playmakers coming their way with tremendous speed and game-breaking ability. Martin is a different type of player, however. While athletic considering his leaping ability and lateral quickness, he’s a much smaller target that could provide the slot receiver, possession-wideout type of target for the Wolverines offense inside of Peoples-Jones and Tarik Black. Put simply, he’s the type of offensive player that could really complete the unit and make Harbaugh’s future offense a force to be reckoned with.
