The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a top-25 recruiting class heading into National Signing Day. Here are five guys that they need to land to keep it that way.

Mike Riley is heading into his third year as the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the program is trending in the right direction with him as head coach. They went 9-4 in 2016 and have the No. 24 recruiting class of 2017 heading into National Signing Day, according to 247Sports. Nebraska has 17 commitments, five of whom are early enrollees. The Cornhuskers have four four-stars and 13 three-stars.

While Nebraska isn’t the national power that it once was under legendary head coach Tom Osborne, the Cornhuskers are still very much a blue-blood. They do a phenomenal job of landing great talent out of state, always have and probably always will.

That being said, Riley isn’t getting any younger at 63 years of age. If he wants to help bring the Cornhuskers back to national prominence, here are the five players he needs to try to sign heading into 2017 National Signing Day.

Riley is making defensive tackle a priority in his 2017 recruiting class. Nebraska usually does well in landing strong defensive talent, so it’s no surprise that the Cornhuskers can attract players from all across the country. One guy that is very interested in playing for Nebraska is defensive tackle Damion Daniels from Dallas.

Daniels is the No. 47 defensive tackle, the No. 85 player from football-rich Texas, and the No. 625 player in the 2017 recruiting class. 247Sports has him as a three-star recruit with a 0.8596 grade. Daniels remains uncommitted heading into National Signing Day 2017.

He visited Nebraska on September 3rd and has been leaning towards signing with the Cornhuskers for a while now. Schools like Colorado, Oklahoma State and Texas-San Antonio are also very interested in Daniels’ commitment. Expect Daniels to sign with the Cornhuskers, but he could potentially go with Colorado.
